Cost of Attendance (COA) is a statutory term for the estimated full and reasonable cost of completing a full academic year as a full-time student. The cost of attendance is published by each educational institution and includes:

- Tuition and fees payable to the institution
- Books and supplies
- Room and board
- Personal costs (medical, clothing, laundry)
- Transportation to and from the school 

As of October 29, 2011, every post-secondary institution that receives federal financial aid funds is required to post its COA.

UO COA is the third highest on the chart, costing $65,553, behind UCLA ($72,368) and Michigan ($80,142). The UO Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships provides estimates for cost of attendance information that goes beyond tuition and fees, and includes: living expenses (housing and food), books/supplies/equipment, transportation, and miscellaneous personal expenses.
